My own summer….

Summer has been pretty busy! I’ve done a lot of editorial work, two group shows and a duo gallery show this summer. I am finally glad that were back to pumpkin spice latte and sweater weather. So here are some pieces I did for publication. Above is an image for NY Observer Playground Magazine, about a high end boxing gym that opened up in Manhattan. Clients that go to this gym normally go three to five times a week for an hour session worth $147. A little rich for my blood.

This is an Op-Ed image for the LA times about the narcissism surrounding the millennial generation after the death of Bin Ladin.

This is a full page image for Airtran Go Magazine, for an article about a writer that takes on survival training to experience a few days surviving in the everglades. I also did a follow up spot illo too.

This is a piece for the Boston Globe about mistake identity. Specifically when it has to do with race. The article starts off with a African American singer on stage singing and when she was done, a different women that was back staged walked off and was praised for the singing she didn’t even do.

This is a piece I did for the Washington City Paper about the self abuse/neglect in a Virginia juvenile detention center, that Washington DC has been sending their troubled kids too.

This is a cover image for Isthmus magazine for a story about a citizen returning after two years in the peace corps to Madison, WI to find that the cities character has changed due to the economic climate/fighting over unions.

Here’s another piece for Isthmus magazine for a funny article about “What’s the definition of a hipster?”

This is a spot for Macworld for an article on whether or not you should buy insurance for your cloud based email.

This is a cover image for Ursinus Magazine about the connection between the body and mind (with some scientific evidence of the soul).

This is a spot I did for Honolulu Magazine about the editors understanding that there is no such thing as a small move, and becomes invested in the things he finds in his own personal archaeology.

This is a cover image I did for the Washington City papers special edition fall arts guide.

Thanks for reading!

Hey There!

Hello Everyone! My name is Daniel Fishel and I am an illustrator + designer living in Queens, NY. I want to thank Laura for hooking me up with an illobook account. I hope to make the best of it.

I have a few projects that are still cooking that I will show later on, but I did want to introduce myself atleast. The above image was my last promotional mailer about staying optimistic through the rough times to get to a better point of where you would want to be. I can’t wait to make more posts about the new stuff under way and talk more about how I digitally construct my images, and so on. I think illobook will be really great, and hope to connect with more and more people on the blog offline.

Cheers,

-Daniel
